Individual Counseling

My experience and training allow me to work confidently with clients doing Brief, or Solution-Focused Therapy, and Long-Term and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy (broad categories).

Brief / Solution-Focused Therapy includes:

  • Focusing on achieving your goals and an orientation toward the future

  • Empowering you, by helping you identify and fine tune the skills you already have, and learn new skills that help you feel better about yourself and your life

  • Identifying patterns of thinking and behavior that affect your mood, undermine your self-worth, and sabotage what you are trying to achieve

  • Learning new patterns of thinking and behavior that help you feel better and increase your sense of personal control

  • Doing practice exercises in between sessions helps:

    a) Solidify what you learn

    b) Make our sessions more productive, and ultimately helps

    c) You get to your goals more quickly.

  • Studies indicate that effective psychotherapy often involves the implementation of diverse treatment approaches. Since my goal to provide you with a successful therapeutic experience, I may incorporate aspects from one or more psychotherapy models.

    Long-Term Therapy includes:

  • Exploring deeply/ developing greater insight about yourself

  • Telling your story, and identifying the early life influences

  • I provide a safe/ compassionate environment to my clients who have suffered from certain traumatic experiences/ early betrayals of trust, allowing them to develop a kinder, and more balanced view of themselves

  • Transforming the deep wounds and /healing them in the present

  • Becoming aware that supportive self-talk, and affirming core beliefs can replace painful and shaming thoughts and self-concepts

  • Using the therapy process to integrate positive self-talk, self-acceptance, and affirming core beliefs into daily life

  • Developing the necessary patience with yourself to transform/ heal deep wounds

  • Experiencing personal growth through psychotherapy, enjoying healthy:

    a) Positive thoughts and feelings about oneself

    b) Constructive behavior patterns

    c) Emotional stability

    d) Sustaining and rewarding relationships

  • No matter which approach seems to fit for you, my training and compassion will serve your natural inclination toward growth and wholeness, so you can ultimately enjoy a more satisfying and rewarding life.
